Website Templates for Therapists & Coaches OR Hire a Professional Designer?

Published March 2026

Whether you’re just starting your Therapy Private Practice / Coaching Business or you’re looking to refresh an existing website you may be curious about “Website Templates”. And that totally makes sense. Website Templates are everywhere these days!

I’m Jena; an experienced brand and website designer and it may surprise you but a CORE belief of mine is this: There’s no “right” or “wrong” in web design. Only the right fit for YOU.

So in this post I break down the pros and cons of Website Templates and Custom Website Design (aka working with a professional website designer).

Now let’s dive in! ✨

Option 1: Website Templates for Therapists & Coaches

What is a Website Template?

A Website Template is a ready-to-go website design created by a professional that gets installed directly onto your own Squarespace account.

You customize it using step-by-step video tutorials, and then launch your new site when you're ready!

Website Templates act as a nice bridge between a completely DIY website experience (aka you frantically googling Wix tutorials at 11pm at night) and fully Custom Website Design with a professional.

Website Templates bring together you’re willingness to follow instructions and a designer’s web design experience. 🤓

Who is a Website Template for?

Website Templates are perfect for therapists or coaches who are willing to roll up their sleeves and follow clear guidance and who still care about the visual side of things!

They want to feel proud of their website — without breaking the bank.

It’s for those who want to get started right away! Feeling the inspiraiton to dig in today? You got it.

Website Templates are self paced and can be purchased “right off the shelf”. This means you have a lot of autonomy and conrol over how slowly or quickly you want to move through the steps.

For some timeline context, (because I would totally be curious about this) most business owners who purchase a Website Template launch their new site within a month.

What’s Included with a Website Template purchase?

Some Website Templates just include the actual website. However it’s my belief that any good Website Template should also include some branding and marketing support - Because marketing doesn’t just start and stop at web design, right?

I designed my website templates to be more of an all-in-one solution:

  • A Squarespace Website Template (yes, of course!) 🥳

  • A plug and play logo design (with a variety of “icons” to choose from)

  • Set of branded icons

  • Color palette

  • Brand fonts

  • Free stock imagery

  • Copywriting prompts to help you write the words for your site

  • A Squarespace Website Template (yes, of course!)

  • And instagram graphics created in Canva

Your Website Design includes the following pages:

Main Pages:

  • Home, About, Services, Free Resources, Contact

Extra Pages:

  • Sales Page (longer in length), Media/Press Page, Blog Page, Podcast Page, Freebie Page, Shop Page, Instagram Links, Custom 404 Page

Pros and Cons of Website Templates for Therapists & Coaches

Pros:

  • Affordable price point (typically under $400 for everything!)

  • Full branding + website solution in one

  • Easy to customize and launch quickly (my students launch within a couple weeks on average)

  • Can be upgraded later with Design Days or The Awakened Brand (flexible support always here if you need it)

Cons:

  • You’ll be doing the manual work (but tutorials make it easy, promise!)

  • Best suited for resourceful and self-motivated business owners (it’s a self-paced experience 🤠)

Are you already nodding yes? Have a gut feeling this is the best option for you?

Option 2: Hire a Professional Website Designer for Custom Design

What is Custom Website Design?

When you hire a professional Designer to create your new website you are purchasing a custom product, extra 1:1 support and a streamlined process. That process can take anywhere from 2 weeks to 3 months, depending on the designer and the scope of work.

Custom Website Design is where a designer creates a site for you—tailored to your vision, offers, and customer journey.

From unique layouts to personalized features, every detail is thoughtfully designed and implemented. Whether you need three sales pages or a homepage video, a web designer can make it happen. They typically also handle all the tech: contact forms, pop-ups, freebie delivery, and more.

My custom website design package is called The Aligned Website package, and the name really says it all.✨ My process is all about crafting a website that embodies your unique energy, works with your business strategy and makes it easier to evolve and pivot in the future by building systems that can grow with you.

Who should Hire a Professional Designer for Website Design?

This is a great fit if you’re a Therapist or Coach ready to invest time, energy, and resources into building a site that fully represents your brand. You might be a newer business owner or someone who's been around a while—the key is that you're excited and ready to collaborate.

Perfect if you’re a Therapist or Coach looking for a high-touch partnership, and a “please do it for me” resource.

If you already have an existing Squarespace site that needs a refresh, custom work is often the best route so we can protect your existing SEO and links while upgrading the design.

What’s included with Custom Website Design?

Every Website Designer includes slightly different deliverables. Because of this, it’s very important to compare apples to apples if you’re interviewing multiple designers. If you are receiving multiple proposals be sure to clarify any questions you have! There’s no silly questions in my book. We are here to help you! Plus understanding these deliverables will help you understand what you’re actually investing in (and if that’s even necessary for you!).

What’s included with my Custom Website Design package: Aligned Website Package:

  • Website Questionnaire + 1 hour Discovery Call so I can get to know you and your target market.

  • Copywriting Prompts and 2 hour Copy Call for Copy Guidance

  • Squarespace Website custom to your needs (home, about, services, long format sales page, shop page, blog or podcast page and free resources page)

  • Mobile Optimized

  • Email Software setup

  • Domain setup support

  • Contact forms and Client Onboarding tech stack consulting

  • Customer Journey/Flow Consulting

  • Photography Photoshoot Guidance and Stock Imagery Selections

  • SEO Foundations using Squarespace’s Checklist and referrals for professional SEO partners for ongoing SEO work

  • The Sundai Studio Squarespace Tutorial Library

Pros and Cons of Hiring a Professional Website Designer

Pros:

  • You get a true partner for strategy, tech, design, and flow

  • You feel “seen” and the website feels like you! 🤩 That’s what I’ve heard time and time again from past clients >

  • Full customization for your unique offers and content

  • Hands-off for you in terms of setup and implementation

  • You now have a resource you can reach out too for further design support or questions

Considerations:

  • Custom websites require a higher financial and energetic investment

  • You’ll need time to review materials and provide assets (it often forces you create that new freebie idea!)

  • A larger investment compared to templates—but a strategic, long-term one. Plus payment plans are always available.

  • Most likely, you’ll also need to add on a Design Day or The Awakened Brand package to sort out your logo design and branding before you can jump into the website, which can add a bit more time and budget to your overall project.
